WhatsApp BSP HTTP API setup for any other provider
For a provider that is not on the list but sends approved WhatsApp templates through a simple HTTP API. Pick a preset or start blank, and check it against the provider's API documentation.
What Ultra WhatsApp asks for
| API key | Your provider's dashboard (developer or API settings). |
|---|---|
| WhatsApp number | The number connected at the provider, in international format. |
| Request settings | Method, API URL, headers and message body. The presets fill these in; placeholders such as {{to}}, {{template}}, {{language}} and {{params_json}} are replaced for each message. |
Steps
- Connect your number at the provider and get its templates approved there.
- In Ultra WhatsApp open Numbers, click Connect a number, choose I already have my details, pick Custom HTTP API, and paste the API key and the WhatsApp number.
- Pick a preset or start blank, and compare the URL, headers and body with your provider's current API documentation.
- On Templates click Add manually for each template you use, pasting the body exactly as approved, with {{1}}, {{2}} and so on.
- Ultra WhatsApp cannot test a custom API without sending a real message: use Tools, Quick single send to send one template to your own number first.
Good to know
- Providers change their APIs; the presets are a starting point, not a guarantee.
- The provider adds its own fees to Meta's charges.
When Any other provider (Custom HTTP API) makes sense
A provider can make onboarding easier and may be the account you already have, but it adds its own platform or per-message fees on top of Meta's charges. The rules stay the same either way: approved templates, opted-in contacts and Meta's messaging limits. Where the steps above set up a webhook, delivery statuses need that address saved in the provider's dashboard.
Dashboards change their menus from time to time; if a label differs, look for the API keys or developer section. Stuck? See the Ultra WhatsApp troubleshooting table, the Ultra WhatsApp user guide, or contact us.
